EVOLVING WORLD OF IDEAS
The axiom that, “Ideas rule the world,” has been over flogged by many who don’t seem to know its significance in the real sense. These words are mostly uttered by people in the marketing field or advertising discipline as they make efforts to sell their new or existing products in the economy. The bone of contention which is the idea they clamour for in the actual sense is lagging. Rather, many so-called business men and entrepreneurs just re-cycle what has been, but without adding values. The ideas they hide under is false. Notwithstanding the status quo, the globe actually at the moment is emerging with avalanche of ideas. It is therefore critical that everyone that wants to be relevant should re-position themselves for the evolving world of ideas.
Having asserted this, ideas that rule the world should be productive, profitable and prosperous. It is not only to the manufacturer of the idea, but equally to the consumers. It is a mutual thing. Anything devoid of these qualities is not an idea. The whole essence is to ensure that our collective world would dwell and merry in productivity, profitability and prosperity.
Space will not permit me to delve deeply into the aforementioned three qualities, but every reader of this piece should know that this is applicable to every human on earth. Whether you are a teacher, scientist, writer, doctor, lawyer, entrepreneur, etc, the world should define you with an idea, at least. And this is not far-fetched, an idea is your core value in relation to your profession, occupation or professionalism. The question you should ask yourself is: are my core values productive, profitable or prosperous?
The central idea of this piece is to refine and repackage your own mind, as you re-brand and sell your values to the world. You sell your core values to the society before you sell product or render services. In doing so, weigh yourself on a balance, and see if you are productive, profitable and prosperous. This is not actually to be measured monetarily, though the result in the long run should commensurate financially.
According to the late American advertising executive, author and columnist, Lois Wyse, “the only people in the world who can change things are those who sell ideas.” It means that before you can transform the world, your mind has to be productive, profitable or prosperous, if not all the three. Ideas are basically innovations and inventions. It connotes that you either make new things or refine them. Both are geared towards meeting the universal needs. It is not just some exercise of self- aggrandizement. Ideas are of eternal values. The world has a catalog of these instances. Karl Benz invented petrol automobile, and Henry Ford innovated (re-invented) by pioneering the system that launched the mass production. Today, automobile as a product or business has brought productivity, profitability or prosperity. Think on this!
It is my earnest expectation that as the world encounters another dimension of economic drive, your mind will be challenged and drilled to fit into the world of ideas. Let the world see your mind as a great idea that has ever happened to it. Make your impact in the sand of time. Pursue excellence and crave dignity. Among other things, you can achieve this when you concentrate on your talents, be resilient, open-minded, pragmatic and problem-solving. It is our collective responsibility to build a productive, profitable and prosperous world. We can achieve this feat when our creative ideas are wrapped around the globe.

AFTER THE DARK CLOUDS ON OKADABOOKS
AFTER the DARK CLOUDS is now available on Okadabooks.
Biodun Busari’s After the Dark Clouds is available now on Okadabooks (Nigeria’s online bookshelf).
After the Dark Clouds narrates the story of a melancholic Nigerian male graduate, Michael who resides in Lagos, but struggles with complacency, joblessness and a lingering feud between his religious, pastor father and enigmatic, politician uncle.
In his attempt to reconcile the brothers, he meets Sarah, a beautiful but ambitious young lady.
His adventure with her exceeds his expectation as this does not only change him, but also reveals the dark side of the two most important men in his life, as he thirsts for a cause to live for…
The story is set in Lagos (the nation’s commercial engine room), Ibadan (the country’s largest city by landmass) and Adoka and Upu (two of the Idoma communities in Benue State, which is the food basket of the nation).
It is set during the fourth republic.
